What We Do in the Village
2025
This book is all about the simple, heartwarming moments kids spend in the village with their grandparents.
The oldest sister finds peace and calm there. She loves the cozy vibe, where she can enjoy nature, quiet moments, and time for herself.
The middle sister is a real adventurer. She’s fascinated by history and archaeology, and grandma and grandpa’s house is the perfect spot for her discoveries. There are always old treasures hidden around, and outside in the garden, she can practice digging and dream of making great archaeological finds.
The youngest is all about animals. Every trip to their grandparents’ house is a happy one, because the village is full of furry friends who are always up for a game.
For the illustrations, I wanted them to feel bright, like childhood memories, but also warm and cozy, like a grandparent’s home. My goal was to make readers feel the warmth, comfort, and happiness of those moments.
I picked a warm color palette with soft greens, browns, and pastels to bring a sense of peace and tenderness to the pictures. These colors capture the charm of village life, and each illustration highlights the moments that stay in your heart, even when you’re all grown up.
Finn Catches a Worm!
Autor Mark D. Finley
2024
This book teaches children the importance of being cautious, mindful of dangers, and trusting loved ones while also demonstrating how to act in difficult situations.
The illustrations tell the story of
a loving fish family that lives at
the bottom of a pond. One day, while the older children were playing,
the youngest fish, Finn, found himself in danger. His attention was drawn to a worm, but he didn’t notice
the hidden hook. Trapped in
the danger, Finn was saved by
the bravery of his father, who came to the rescue after the older siblings quickly called for help. Thanks to the family’s unity and mutual trust,
little Finn returned to his loved ones, and together they learned an important lesson about caution.
While creating the illustrations, I aimed to convey the dynamic nature of the story by changing perspectives and the characters’ poses, bringing
the events on the pages to life.
Special attention was given to the expressions on the fishes’ faces,
as each scene is filled with emotions—from joy and curiosity to worry and relief.
The color palette was chosen to immerse the reader in the underwater world of the pond. Details like plants, stones, and bubbles in the background create a realistic yet subtle atmosphere that doesn’t distract from the main characters. All elements of the illustrations work together to emphasize the core message of
the story: the importance of trust, caution, and family support.
The Bird and The Bee
Autor Jonnie Forster
2022
This is a warm and inspiring story about how love and friendship can make the world a better place.
Working on this book was an incredibly fascinating experience for me. I wanted to create a unique world for the characters, where they live in nature but with design elements that make their houses and clothes truly special. Herbie lives in a small, cozy nest-like house among the branches
of trees, while Bree comes from an exquisite palace that resembles a beehive with golden and honey-colored patterns and delicate details.
It was important for me to preserve the natural essence of the characters and create a world that highlights their individuality. To achieve this,
I altered their body structures just enough to make them appear charming when viewed up close. I also illustrated their homes to match their personalities as closely as possible.
Since this is a story filled with friendship, love, and life, I chose bright yet natural colors, which added
a sense of authenticity and harmony to the illustrations. The presence of sunlight and light in the illustrations symbolizes hope and the aspiration for positive change.
Tweet-Tweet and Friends Series
Author: Dr. Eleanor Wint
2020
This book series tells the story
of the adventures of a little penguin named Tweet-Tweet and her friends. Created by Professor of Sociology
the series helps children learn how to manage emotions, build relationships, accept themselves, overcome fears, and uncover their inner strength through the experiences of the little penguins.
The books have an educational character, so I consciously tried not to overload the illustrations with excessive details. Instead, I aimed to create a visual atmosphere that would be both expressive and clear for young readers, allowing them to focus on
the main content of the story and experience the events alongside
the characters. Each illustration is designed to capture the children’s attention, encouraging them to immerse themselves in the adventures of Tweet-Tweet and her friends.
I kept the environment close to nature: lots of snow and ice, which creates
the atmosphere of the real Antarctic. All buildings and furniture in
the penguin world are also made of ice or snow, adding a sense of intrigue and fairy-tale charm to the setting.
At the same time, I wanted to ensure that even in this wintery environment, children could feel familiar elements that add warmth and coziness
to the story.
To make the world of the characters even closer and more understandable for young readers, I added some elements from the human world. These might include items like clothing, jewelry, school supplies,
or bags, things that children might see in their everyday lives. By doing so, young readers can feel a stronger connection with the characters,
as they can identify with the heroes through these familiar, recognizable objects. This approach helps foster a sense of belonging to the story, maintaining their interest and encouraging them to feel part
of this wonderful adventure.
